A house full of supporters for the SAWCC and the ROSL

What a fun evening with 55 very special people and we had good company and lots of free flowing Delhaim wines from South Africa. It was a spectacular sunset standing on the balcomy at the Consular residence with perfect weather which is not the norm this time of the year in Hong Kong. We had fund and we had good prizes in our lucky draw and the presence from PJ supported an evening to remember. Maybe next time PJ will sing for us.

Internship programs

Following meetings with various South African companies such as Woolworths, Escom, Foschini and CIDA, an internee training programme in the areas of design, manufacturing, accounting, logistics, supply chain, human resources, sourcing and merchandising was set up.

Shelly from South Africa became the first internee to spend a month in China during March 2009. “I travelled into the depths of China with a Cantonese show and accessory designer and I learned so much,” (Shelly Blignaut) said. “I had a fantastic time visiting show, bag and buckle factories. I also spent time in a denim factory in Zhuhai. I felt like a real Chinese employee sleeping in their dormitories, eating their food and working their hours. I really hope the programme will grow in the future so that other young people can experience the fascinating Chinese culture.”

In June 2009, students Katie Ho and Lucia Ngai from Hong Kong Polytechnic went to Cape Town. “Before I left I did not know much about South Africa,” said Lucia Ngai. “During my trip, I loved getting a deeper knowledge of culture, history of living in South Africa. That’s why the internship is a valuable way to meet South Africans.”

To practically and effectively enrich the lives and understanding of the global business community for men and women and the youth of South Africa and  the Hong Kong community  in entrepreneurial fields for the betterment of their future.

Further to create a platform for the South African resident business community to interact with their counterparts from other countries in a forum that promotes sound business practices and allows for the expansion or initiation of business initiatives.

The Mission

The passion that informed the creation of this Chamber was the desire to enhance, promote and develop the entrepreneurial spirit in the, men, women and the youth ofSouth Africaand of Hong Kong Chinese.

Through connecting the hearts and minds of experienced and successful men and women in business and their environment to the potential of the youth from both countries, the Chamber believes we will play a large part in creating the new entrepreneur for the 21st century and beyond. The benefits of cross cultural interaction we believe cannot be overstated to play a significant role in the development of bi-lateral relationships that will extend far beyond the assistance received
